Neighborhoods

East Liberty

Although just a local neighborhood, East Liberty once had the largest business district between downtown Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. In the 1960's and 70's, the neighborhood saw a decline in liveliness as well as residents. Since 2010 or so, East Liberty has made a remarkable comeback. Still anchored by the massive East Liberty Presbyterian Church, East Liberty has witnessed the development of the Bakery Square project (home to Google's Pittsburgh operations), retail in the form of small shops, Whole Foods, Home Depot and other national brands, and some amazing restaurants, including the much-admired Spoon.
