John Graf and his wife Suzanne are owners of the Priory Hospitality Group, which consists of the Priory Hotel, a 42 room boutique hotel, Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at the Priory, a large (350 guest) banquet facility adjacent to the hotel, Priory Fine Pastries, a retail and commercial bakery, Priory Development, LLC, a real estate development firm, and Priory Hotel Consulting, LLC, a hospitality consulting firm. Priory Hospitality Group purchased and took over the operations of the Mansions on Fifth Hotel in October 2016.
As President and CEO of the organization, John is responsible for the day to day performance of all PHG profit centers, as well as the organization's overall sales, finance, marketing and strategic functions.
John has received industry recognition for Priory Hospitality Group's financial success as well as for its charitable works. In May 2016, PHG was named as Family Owned Business of the Year in the 50 to 75 employee category by the Pittsburgh Business Times. In January 2015, John and his wife Suzanne were recognized as one of ten Couples Who Make a Difference by Whirl Magazine for their philanthropic work. In November 2013, John was honored with the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association's Wilmer S. Lapp Keystone award for service to the industry, and in June 2013, he was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Western Pennsylvania/ West Virginia. In May 2011 John received the United States Small Business Administration's Jeffrey S. Butland Family Owned Business of the Year award.
In addition to his duties with Priory Hospitality Group, John has served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association statewide from January through December 2016. With the PRLA, John had previously served as President of the organization's Western Chapter, as well as statewide Government Affairs Chairman. He also is a member of the boards of directors of the National Aviary, the Homeless Children's Education Fund, Team Tassy (a Haitian relief organization) and the North Side/North Shore Chamber of Commerce. John had served on the Community Advisory Board of WQED Multimedia from 2008 to 2014.
Prior to joining the Priory Hospitality Group full time in 2002, John was a practicing attorney for over 12 years, including three years as an adjunct faculty member at the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business.
